Today, OSCE Mission Office in Kishinev hosted the meeting of Political Representatives of Pridnestrovie and Moldova Nina Shtanski and Yevgeny Karpov with the participation of the “Permanent Conference” participants.

According to Nina Shtanski, the main goal of the meeting should have become “adequate preparation of the meeting of the heads of the sides”. However, despite the efforts made, the only agreed item which is of no doubt either to the Pridnestrovian or Moldovan side is the one related to the prolongation of agreement on railway communication. “Luckily, in this point the mechanism has shown its efficiency, so the sides have intention to prolong it,” the Political Representative of Pridnestrovie stated. At the same time, as she told, this subject-matter of the meeting is slightly lowering the bar which the sides had put before them. “We offered our colleagues from Moldova to come to Tiraspol this time, to hold the bilateral meeting and to sign prolongation of this agreement. We agreed that such meeting will take place in the very near future”, head of the foreign office told. Nina Shtanski also added that the date of the meeting between President of the PMR and Prime-Minister of Moldova will be reconciled in the coming days. Pridnestrovian Political Representative expressed regret about the fact that the sides had failed to produce agenda and prepare the meeting of leaders of the sides slated to take place in Ukraine under chairmanship and on the initiative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Foreign Minister of Ukraine Leonid Kozhara. Therefore the meeting has been again postponed.

In the course of today's meeting the sides considered in detail several sensitive issues, such as motor traffic in the context of freedom of movement of cargoes and services, the problem of issuance of permissive documents for automobile transport and the issue of criminal cases initiated earlier by each side against officials of another side.

In particular, today Nina Shtanski and Evgeniy Karpov fixed an arrangement “to instruct expert (working) groups on combating crime, involving competent specialists responsible in this field, within one month to exchange information, systematize and submit proposals on possible mechanisms of resolving the issue of data of criminal cases.” Commenting on this arrangement, Nina Shtanski assessed it positively and added that this is a longstanding problem which the sides agreed to solve as far back as in June 2012 in Rottach-Eggern. “After the meeting in Rottach-Egern between President of the PMR Yevgeny Shevchuk and Prime-Minister of Moldova Vlad Filat I was instructed by the President of the PMR to address this issue. Today we have approached it tightly,” she told.
