Today ceremonial events are held in all place and districts of the Republic. They are devoted to one of the most significant events and dates in history - the Day of the Great Victory. At the Memorial of Glory in the capital of the state flowers were traditionally laid. The Head of State Yevgeny Shevchuk and the Russian delegation led by Dmitry Rogozin, Deputy Chairperson of the Government of the Russian Federation, Special Representative of the President of Russia for Pridnestrovie, arrived to pay tribute to the victims of the Great Patriotic War. The event was also attended by representatives of the Republic authorities, residents and visitors of Pridnestrovie.
Following the ceremony of laying flowers, the President of the PMR and distinguished guest spoke to reporters. When asked about the situation in the negotiation process and estimates of its further development, Yevgeny Shevchuk emphasized exacting nature of the current situation. “First of all, in my opinion, this is due to some political uncertainty of Moldova's leadership in Kishinev. The road map is not clear. Therefore, we expressed a wish to our partners in Kishinev to form a government and to enhance negotiations towards prior solution of the socio-economic issues,” Yevgeny Shevchuk said. He also reaffirmed the willingness of Pridnestrovie to participate in consultation with the Moldovan negotiators in Odessa in May of this year.
Dmitry Rogozin noted that there is a geopolitical factor – “the political orientation of the official Kishinev„ - alongside with the formality of the negotiations. According to Russian politician, the crisis appearing in the Republic of Moldova demonstrates currently that the idea of reckless escape to Brussels has failed. The distinguished guest also added that “approaches in Brussels are rather tough and predatory, so a true patriot of Moldova would hardly agree with these approaches.”
Special Representative of the President of Russia for Pridnestrovie drew the attention of reporters that nowadays Eurasian integration becomes especially relevant in the regional policy. To belief of the guest, the true national interests are in line of convergence with Russia, the Eurasian Union and the Customs Union. “We need to move only in this direction. Russia is ready for it and I think that all the other issues will be addressed in the course of this rapprochement which has been travailed by people. And believe me, it will happen,” Dmitry Rogozin concluded.
