On June 20, 2012 during the Conference “On Development of Confidence Building Measures in the Process of Settlement of Pridnestrovian Conflict”, a summit meeting was held in Rottach-Egern, Germany. Vlad Filat and Yevgeny Shevchuk discussed possible ways of development of interaction in economical, social, humanitarian and other spheres.
The participants of the meeting positively marked the activization of direct dialogue between Kishinev and Tiraspol. They expressed satisfaction on the resumption of the activity of working (expert) groups on confidence building measures, on the resumption of freight railroad communication through Pridnestrovie, on simplified regime of movement during Easter holidays, on joint measures of organization in 2012 of recreation of 200 of children in health improvement camps, on the cancellation of 100% duty on imported Moldovan goods in order to activate mutual trade.
During the meeting the sides agreed to continue activity on the resumption of movement on the bridge of the Dniester near village Bychok and Gura Bykuluy, which will give the possibility to open international transport corridor. The sides discussed the perspectives of speedy restoration of additional railway passenger routes through Tiraspol on traditional directions: Rostov, Moscow, Saint-Petersburg, Chernovtsy, etc.
The sides analyzed the process of implementation of Protocol Decision on the Resumption of a Full-Scale Railroad Movement from March 30, 2012. The necessity of detailed elaboration of the procedures of export and import and stable full-scale regime of functioning of railroad communication was marked. The sides expressed intention to improve mechanisms of implementation of agreements, achieved in given sphere.
Besides, the problems of resumption of passenger and cargo freightage were discussed. It was noted, that settlement of above mentioned issues on the basis of coordinated mutually beneficial principles of interaction will become meaningful step in further normalization of relations in the sphere of freedom of movement; and this will create prerequisites for strengthening of the atmosphere of confidence and settlement of other important issues.
