Vitaly Ignatiev: Situation in the PMR Differs from the Situation in South Sudan or Kosovo

Today Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PMR saw a meeting between Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Vitaly Ignatiev and the representatives of foreign non-governmental organizations – Crisis Management Initiative (CMI) headed by advisor to CMI\'s Black Sea and Central Asia projects Denis Matveev and European Integration Strategy Association (EISA) headed by the President Rainder Steenblock.

Participating in the meeting also were member of the EISA board, Dr. Martin Sieg and advicer to CMI's Black Sea and Central Asia projects Roxana Cristescu.

According to Denis Matveev, CMI is the organization with 10 years of work experience in conflict and post-conflict regions, dealing with the problems of dialogue, mediation, support and introduction of peace agreements.

 Answering the questions of journalists about the purposes, pursued by Crisis Management Initiative in the PMR, Denis Matveev told, that organization supports “the process in Pridnestrovie, in particular, socio-economic cooperation, confidence building measures and working groups.”

“We see this process as a perspective one, and we are ready to work in the spheres, where we are expected, where we can be useful for two offices of political representatives and for civil society,” advisor to CMI's Black Sea and Central Asia projects noticed in his statement.

Denis Matveev also informed those present on the fact, that a number of joint projects has already been implemented. “We have already introduced several measures before – introductory trip to Cyprus, organized in 2011 for negotiators, round table, held in April 2012 in Brussels.”

According to Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Vitaly Ignatiev, the proposals on “expert, scientific and informational support of the processes, realized within the framework of improvement of the situation in socio-economical sphere within the framework of the settlement and in the context of strengthening of confidence building measures” were thoroughly considered during the meeting. Some of them will be implemented this year, on the others the PMR's MFA expects to receive more detailed information.

Answering the question about the need of such kind of assistance in the PMR, Pridnestrovian diplomat said, that “such assistance may be topical for the PMR.” “It is the assistance of independent international experts. The present organization is involved in very serious activity all over the world in the sphere of settlement,” Vitaly Ignatiev said.
