On the Meeting between Leadership of the PMR’s MFA and the Head of the Council of Europe’s Office in the Republic of Moldova

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Nina Shtanski met with the head of the Council of Europe's Office in Moldova Ulvi Akhundlu. Deputy Minister Vitaly Ignatiev also took part in the meeting.

The interlocutors discussed certain steps in order to implement several socio-humanitarian projects as part of the European Council's program “Confidence building measures between two banks of Dniester river”. First three events are planned for April-May of this year.

The program makes provision for holding of seminar devoted to protection of disabled children's rights and to problems of children's adoption. Also the tournament in tug rugby between school teams of Pridnestrovie and Moldova is scheduled for late April. As Ulvi Akhundlu reported, more than 100 teenagers of 13-15 years old will take part in the competition. “We are waiting for this fascinating event, which will take part in Tiraspol and Chisinau, with anticipation” – head of the Council of Europe's Office said. The parties also discussed the seminar on the mobility of teachers and students in system of higher education which is scheduled for late April. As Ulvi Akhundlu said, the representatives of ministries of education, health and social security and representatives of the staff of the Commissioner for human rights are going to be involved into organizing and carrying out these projects.

Nina Shtanski noted the high level of development and content-richness of the proposed program. Minister pointed out that these projects have clear subject which is directed towards solving problems in field of human rights and education system. What is especially important, the main emphasis is made on work with children. Nina Shtanski expressed readiness of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to assist in carrying out these projects in Pridnestrovie.

During the meeting the parties also discussed the details of the program of visit of the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe to Pridnestrovie which is set (planned) for early April.
