On the participation of independent observers from Pridnestrovie in the 13th meeting of Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Moldova

Today, Kishinev saw the 13th meeting of Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Moldova. Participating in the meeting were Pridnestrovian representatives – Deputy Chairperson of the Government of the PMR for International Cooperation, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Nina Shtanski and Deputy Chairperson of the Government of the PMR for Economic Development and Finance, Minister of Economic Development of the PMR Maiya Parnas.

 

 

Opening up the meeting, Chairpersons – Deputy Chairperson of the Government of the Russian Federation, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for Pridnestrovie Dmitry Rogozin and Minister of Economy Valeriy Lazer – particularly noted the resumption of involvement of Pridnestrovian observers in the work of the commission.  

 

 

 

 

In her turn, head of the Pridnestrovian delegation Nina Shtanski stressed in her speech that “decision to renew participation of independent observers from Pridnestrovie with a right to vote during discussions and the right to participate in panel sessions of experts will undoubtedly be a constructive step which will allow stepping up joint work on the solution of many of accumulated socio-economic problems”.

 

 

 

 

The Pridnestrovian diplomat told participants of the meeting about the fact that efforts to eliminate existing contradictions are made already toady at the level of bilateral Pridnestrovian-Moldovan cooperation, as well as in the framework of the Permanent Conference in the 5+2 format. “Both the sides and international actors in the settlement process recognized the priority of socio-economic range of issues among all the rest”. According to Nina Shtanski, work within Intergovernmental Commission, among other things, in intersessional period “creates additional platform for cooperation and at the same time serves as an impetus for intensification of joint efforts to work through problematic issues, with people from both banks of the Dniester waiting for their resolution”.

 

 

 

 

Following the results of the meeting, a Protocol was signed today between Dmitry Rogozin and Valeriy Lazer. Pridnestrovian proposals were introduced in it as a separate article. In particular, Article 13 of the Protocol specifies, “The sides have agreed to consider proposals presented by Pridnestrovian observers which refer to the competence of Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Development”. First of all, these proposals include intensification of the work on coordination of parameters of the opening of the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Pridnestrovie.  Also, Pridnestrovian proposals touch upon transport development for the purposes of ensuring free movement of people, goods and services, in particular, resumption of full-scale passanger railway communication in Pridnestrovie, traditional and popular routs including. Apart from that, Pridnestrovie offers to restore transport potential of the Dniester River, to step-up negotiations regarding establishment of the civil aviation in Pridnestrovie in order to ensure interests of a great number of passengers and render opportune medical assistance.

 

 

 

 

A number of proposals presented by Pridnestrovie involve trade-economic cooperation. In particular, opening of branches of federal services of the Russian Federation in Pridnestrovie is meant: Federal Migration Service, Federal Supervision Service for Consumer Rights Protection and Human Welfare, and Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision.
