Ivan Burgudzhi on the “Public Diplomacy” TV Project: “If there Stands an Issue of Changing of the Format of the Peacekeeping Operation it Stands Only in Order to Make it Easier to Eliminate Pridnestrovian Statehood and to Press Russia out of here”

-In Gagauzia very much the same processes took place in early 1990s as in Pridnestrovie: we had independent republic which existed for 5 years but than we agreed, due to objective and subjective reasons, to become autonomy in the Republic of Moldova. Moldova is in practice not repaying obligations which it took according to the law adopted by the Parliament. International organizations are just shrugging their shoulders, smiling, but things remain as they are.

As for the peacekeeping operation here, on Dniester, we have firm position in Gagauzia that Russian soldier and Russian spirit should be here and they should stay here forever. Russian peacekeeping contingent located here is a “safety net” from any incidents. And we can not exclude them because even some third or fourth power can provoke conflict. That is why the peacekeeping operation should proceed here, taking into consideration that geopolitical interests of all the major actors are present here. And if there stands an issue of changing of the format of the peacekeeping operation, it is standing only in order to make it easier, as it was in Kosovo and other places, to eliminate Pridnestrovian statehood and press Russian out of here.
