Pridnestrovie’s President received the German delegation headed by Authorized Representative for Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia at the German Foreign Office Cord-Hinrich Meier-Klodt. Taking part in the meeting was also Deputy Chairperson of the Government of the PMR for International Cooperation, Foreign Minister Nina Shtanski.
The meeting dealt with the aspects of bilateral cooperation between the Pridnestrovie and Germany. In particular, the President expressed the gratitude to the German side for the assistance in the implementation of the project of reconstruction and modernization of water supply and sanitation systems in the Dubossary and Kriulyany Districts. “This is an important project and a major contribution to improving the environment in the Dubossary District,” – stressed Yevgeny Shevchuk.
The meeting discussed the current situation in the settlement process of the Moldo-Pridnestrovian relations and exchanged views on specific issues related to the Pridnestrovian economy and the influence of the global negative factors. “We believe that it is in times of crisis some new features and impulses emerge. Because the causes of this crisis come from outside, including the situation in Ukraine. I think we need to make additional efforts to strengthen cooperation in the search for new ways. Only together we can move forward and our desire to listen to you is rather large,” – said Cord-Hinrich Meier-Klodt. He also emphasized the opportunity to maintain direct contacts and examine the firsthand situation.
President Yevgeny Shevchuk emphasized that Pridnestrovie is interested in a constructive cooperation with the FRG on a wide range of issues.
