The Foreign Ministry hosted a meeting of PMR Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev with the British Ambassador. The diplomats continued the discussion started with the PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky.

At the guest’s request, Vitaly Ignatiev spoke about the current situation in the negotiation process and the new restrictive measures taken by Moldova due to the imposition of customs duties early this year. The Minister drew attention to the fact that Moldova hampers the imports of medicines and diagnostic medical equipment to Pridnestrovie. Special attention was also paid to specific violations of citizens’ rights when residents of Pridnestrovie were detained and deported at the Chisinau airport on their return to the place of permanent residence.

The Pridnestrovian diplomat outlined the history of the negotiation process, which knows many examples of destructive actions of the Republic of Moldova aimed at blocking and disrupting the dialogue. Vitaly Ignatiev emphasized that the 5+2 format has no alternative and is the only internationally recognized mechanism of dialogue geared towards a peaceful settlement of relations between Moldova and Pridnestrovie.

“Sooner or later we will get back to work, but time will be lost. Perhaps someone has the illusion that the settlement should not take place in a transparent, competitive format. I believe that it is not just a mistake, it is a criminal mistake,” the diplomat said.

The parties discussed certain aspects of bilateral interaction and agreed to maintain communication on topical issues as a part of project activities.
