PMR President receives the Lithuanian ambassador

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania to the Republic of Moldova, Tadas Valionis, paid a working visit to Tiraspol. PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky received the diplomat. The Ambassador came together with his deputy Egle Blozneliene. Pridnestrovian side was also represented by Minister of Foreign Affairs Vitaly Ignatiev.

After exchanging greetings, the interlocutors mentioned that it was not the first visit of Tadas Valionis to Pridnestrovie. In 2007, he joined a European delegation that attended Pridnestrovie. At that time, he represented Lithuania in the Eastern Europe and Central Asia Working Group of the Council of the European Union. It is his first visit to the PMR as the Lithuanian Ambassador. This position is held by Tadas Valionis since August 2022. The guest noted that he came to get acquainted personally with the situation and to outline the plans of interaction during his assignment as Ambassador.

Vadim Krasnoselsky stressed that Pridnestrovie is open for dialogue. The main issues remain the preservation of peace and security of people, both in the republic and in the region, as well as the resumption of the negotiation process. The head of the Pridnestrovian state expressed confidence that despite the difficult circumstances, the negotiations and operation of the 5+2 Format could and should be continued if the sides are willing. Vadim Krasnoselsky also spoke about the aspects of the prevented terrorist attacks and the progress and results of their investigation, emphasizing that the prevention of these crimes had helped avoid destabilizing the regional situation.

The participants to the meeting exchanged information and opinions on various issues of mutual interest, discussed the prospects for the negotiation process, talked about bilateral Pridnestrovian-Lithuanian cooperation, including various projects, i.e. potential and previously implemented in Pridnestrovie with Lithuanian involvement.
