Leonid Manakov Participated in the Event Dedicated to the 20th Anniversary of the International Council of Russian Compatriots

The International Council of Russian Compatriots (IRCC) is the only global association of Russian Compatriots, which includes more than 130 unions from 52 countries. On the occasion of its 20th anniversary a ceremonial event was held.

Chairman of the IRCC, President of the International Association of Russian-speaking Lawyers Hasan Mirzoev spoke about the Council’s history, its activities on patriotic education of young Russians, consolidation of the Russian diaspora and human rights activities in different countries around the world, as well as on international platforms. He drew special attention to the need to intensify the IRCC’s work in the current geopolitical situation.

Leonid Manakov, the Head of the Official Representation of the PMR in the Russian Federation, in his turn, read out a greeting message from PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky:

“The Council is a unique association in terms of the scope of its activities. It connects Russians from more than fifty countries around the world. Today, in a challenging international environment, with the International Council’s assistance, significant efforts are made to preserve rich cultural traditions of Russia, support and promote the Russian language abroad.”

Vitaly Ignatiev, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, also sent the words of greeting to the IRCC noting that the organization has done tremendous work to unite the Russian-speaking diaspora, protect the rights and interests of compatriots living abroad, and foster favourable conditions for expanding ties with the historic homeland.

Leonid Manakov commended Chairman of the International Council of Russian Compatriots Hasan Mirzoev and the IRCC Secretariat for active cooperation in protecting the rights and legitimate interests of Pridnestrovian residents in foreign countries and at international forums, including the UN Human Rights Council.
