09/06/22

Vadim Krasnoselsky met with Claus Neukirch at the PMR President’s Office. The European diplomat is in Pridnestrovie on a working visit, one of the many in the last four years. He systematically visited the republic, participated in the negotiation process as an OSCE representative, came as a member of various delegations, and regularly had tete-à-tete meetings with the PMR President. The peculiarity of this visit is that it is the final one: Claus Neukirch is leaving his post as Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova, which he has held since September 2018. Welcoming the guest, Vadim Krasnoselsky thanked him for his attention to Pridnestrovie, his efforts to preserve and activate the format of the Permanent Conference and his desire to find practical solutions to existing problems of the negotiating agenda. The President of Pridnestrovie praised the level of the diplomat’s competence, noting that circumstances did not allow us to close the problematic issues. Nevertheless, the work has been carried out and will continue with Claus Neukirch’s successor as head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova coming into office on October 1 of this year. Vadim Krasnoselsky also expressed confidence that the experience of work in the 5+2 format will be of use to the Austrian diplomat in his future activities.

Claus Neukirch, in his turn, thanked Vadim Krasnoselsky for his openness and constructive cooperation, stressing his hope for the soonest solution of the existing problems in the negotiation agenda and assuring that the OSCE Mission will keep providing all possible assistance to ensure peace and stability in Pridnestrovie.

The interlocutors discussed a wide range of topics. Closing the meeting, they expressed mutual hope to maintain contacts and to continue communication in a new format.
