The Foreign Ministry Hosted the Meeting with FRG Delegation

The Pridnestrovian Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev met with the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Head of Department for Russia, Belarus, the Republic of Moldova, the CIS, the countries of Eastern Europe, Transcaucasia, Central Asia, the Eastern Partnership and the Black Sea cooperation Tobias Tunkel. The meeting was also attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the German Federal Republic to the Republic of Moldova Angela Ganninger.

Welcoming the guests, Vitaly Ignatiev noted that Germany is traditionally an active participant in the settlement process. “The German side has been providing assistance for many years holding informal Bavarian conferences. We also appreciate the impetus given to the negotiation process during the German OSCE Chairmanship in 2016. In fact, at that time we laid down the main settlement agenda, which remains relevant today,” the Minister said.

During the meeting, a detailed exchange of views took place regarding the current state of the dialogue between Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova. According to Vitaliy Ignatiev, the relationship between the parties is currently at a “low point”, and the negotiation process is experiencing problems due to Chisinau ‘s permanent failure to fulfill previously reached agreements, including within the Berlin + package on telecommunications, criminal cases, transport and other

The PMR Foreign Minister also drew attention that Moldova unilaterally introduced new restrictive measures against Pridnestrovie. In particular, at the request of the German guest, the diplomat clarified in details bank transaction problems between Pridnestrovie and Moldova.

Ending the meeting, the parties agreed to maintain working communication on current issues.
