The PMR’s MFA Started Broadened Discussion of the Project of the Main Foreign Policy Document of the Republic

Today the second sitting of Public Expert Council under Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic took place.

Expert discussion was held with participation of Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Nina Shtanski, representatives of bodies of power, business structures, republican non-governmental organizations, academic society and clergy.

During the meeting the project of the new version of Foreign Policy Concept of the State, elaborated by Public Expert Council under the PMR's MFA by order of the President of the PMR, was discussed. As it was reported earlier, the project of given document must be submitted for signature to the Head of State until the end of month.

“The creation of the project was preceded by long-term work of Pridnestrovian diplomats on the analysis of the propositions, which continued to come up to September. We received many detailed propositions concerning both Foreign Policy Concept and the strategy of its' implementation,” Nina Shtanski said. Minister noted high qualitative level of propositions, which were sent to foreign office, and expressed gratitude to those, who participated in the preparation of the project.

According to Nina Shtanski, new document contains the number of principal innovations. In particular, the project of the new Concept fixed Eurasian integration – national idea, which logically follows from the results of the nationwide Referendum of 2006, as the major priority of foreign policy. This idea consists in overwhelming integration of Pridnestrovie into Eurasian associations under the direction of the Russian Federation. New Concept thereby in full takes into consideration the expression of will of Pridnestrovian people, their geopolitical choice which remains unchanged during all these years.

Minister reported that the structure of the document also underwent considerable changes in the new project of Foreign Policy Concept. Now it is adapted to those topical changes that took place in internal politics of the State and are in particular connected with formation of the Government of the PMR as an organ of executive power and with creation of the State Council – consultative-deliberative organ under the President of the PMR.

Making of a decision – to attach broader format to discussion of the project elaborated by the Ministry was the result of the two-hour discussion. “We made consolidated decision to publish given project on the official site of the Ministry in order for the citizens of our republic could get acquainted with its' text and send us their propositions,” Nina Shtanski said.

At the end of the meeting Minister once again emphasized the significance of broad discussion of the project of the new Foreign Policy Concept of the PMR. “The President charged us to involve as much as possible into elaboration of this document the institutes of civil society for it to answer the needs of the public,” she said. “The Head of State is ready to consider the project after it receives broad public consent on its' basic provisions,” Minister concluded.

Next week new generalized document considering all propositions received will be discussed by the members of the Public Chamber of the PMR. Pridnestrovian State University will see roundtable “Foreign Policy Concept within the context of Eurasian integration of Pridnestrovie.”

In a week Public Expert Council under Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PMR will gather again in order to discuss in generalized manner the propositions received and to adopt the final version of the project.
