“The peacekeeping operation provides real security of citizens on both banks of the Dniester” - a meeting of the Public Expert Council discussed peacekeeping issues

During the round table “Prospects for the development of the statehood of Pridnestrovie: modern challenges and threats”, the participants of the Public Expert Council under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PMR discussed issues of maintaining security in the context of functioning of the peacekeeping operation on the banks of the Dniester.

In particular, the Co-Chairman of the Joint Control Commission from Pridnestrovie Oleg Belyakov said that despite the permanent difficult situation, the stability in the Security Zone is maintained, including through the efforts of Pridnestrovie.

The leaderships of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic and the JCC make every effort to maintain the effectiveness of all the mechanisms of the peacekeeping operation, timely respond to the constantly changing situation that allows to solve complex issues quickly. Due to the special attention of the leadership of the republic and President of the PMR Yevgeny Shevchuk today we have trained, battle-worthy, technical equipped peacekeeping contingent from Pridnestrovie, capable to solve complex problems as part of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces,”- he said.

According to him, the peacekeeping operation effectively fulfills its mission and “provides real security of citizens on both banks of the Dniester”.

In his turn, Pro-Rector for Research and Scientific Relations of the Pridnestrovian State University Elena Bobkova turned to sociological data, according to which the position on the need to maintain the peacekeeping operation is traditionally supported by the majority of citizens of Pridnestrovie.

For many years, citizens' opinions on the peacekeeping operation remain unchanged. The presence of peacekeepers is seen by Pridnestrovians as a guarantee of stability, peace and security”, - she stated.
