Vladimir Yastrebchak reiterated Pridnestrovie’s adherence to the Joint Statement of the Presidents of Russia, Pridnestrovie and Moldova at the meetings in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation

On Monday, December 7, 2009, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Vladimir Yastrebchak who is on working visit to the Russian capital was received in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.   PMR's MFA head expressed his sincere condolences to the Russian colleagues because of the recent tragedies which left no one indifferent in Pridnestrovie.

In the course of the concluded consultations, Vladimir Yastrebchak was informed of the debates on the issue of Moldova-Pridnestrovie settlement which were held as part of the OSCE Ministerial Council in Athens. The head of the Foreign Department of Pridnestrovie expressed his appreciation to the Russian side for the constructive, consistent and responsible approach which goes fully in line with the status of a country-guarantor and a fair mediator. The head of the PMR's MFA emphasized again the fact that attempts to ignore existing realities can only aggravate the situation and postpone perspectives for the settlement. Vladimir Yastrebchak reaffirmed adherence of the Pridnestrovian side to the Joint Statement of the Presidents of the Russian Federation, Pridnestrovie and Moldova signed in Moscow on March 18, 2009, inter alia, to the provisions concerning the impossibility for the current peace-keeping operation to be transformed before the parameters of the final settlement are determined.

The interlocutors exchanged views over the situation in the Republic of Moldova in the context of the failure to elect the President of Moldova.

Special emphasis was given to the issue of a bilateral cooperation between Russia and Pridnestrovie.
