The President of the PMR Met Andrey Deshchitsa, the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office

The President of the PMR Yevgeny Shevchuk hosted the OSCE delegation headed by Andrey Deshchitsa, the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for Protracted Conflicts, Ambassador-at-Large. The delegation included also Ambassador Extraordinary & Plenipotentiary of Ukraine in the Republic of Moldova Sergey Pirozhkov, the Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova Jennifer Brush and some other officers from the Ukrainian Embassy in Moldova and the OSCE Mission to Moldova. Pridnestrovie was represented by Nina Shtanski, Deputy Chairperson of the Government, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR.   



The meeting was focused on discussion of arrangements to the next negotiation round in the “5+2” format scheduled for the second half of February in Lvov. Yevgeny Shevchuk and Andrey Deshchitsa shared particular attention to charging of the agenda and to the completion degree of issues to be discussed. The President of the PMR emphasized that Pridnestrovie is intended to focus on the social and economic issues which solution shall influence the welfare of people. “We believe that consideration of social and economic issues and focus on them will build the basis for the confidence between the parties. We stand for settlement of problematic aspects in the area of transport, ​​freedom of movement of people, to be resolved at the negotiating table on a mutually advantageous basis,” Yevgeny Shevchuk said in an interview.  



Andrey Deshchitsa, the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office on Protracted Conflicts added in turn that the opening of the Gura Bicului-Bychok Bridge remains an important question. “We are working on it and we hope to find a mutually acceptable solution as soon as possible,” Andrey Deshchitsa said.



“We hope that negotiations in 2013 will bring us closer to the settlement of a number of social and economic issues. First of all, that will be profitable for people,” the President of the PMR Yevgeny Shevchuk stressed following the results of the meeting.
