Head of the PMR's MFA Nina Shtanski sent congratulatory address to the Bashkan of Gagauzia Mikhail Formuzal due to the anniversary of signing of the Mutual Assistance Agreement between the PMR and Gagauzia. In the telegram it is notably stated:
“19 years ago Pridnestrovie and Gagauzia signed the Mutual Assistance Agreement, centering on common goals and tasks, being led by strive for further development and strengthening of comprehensive cooperation. This document proved the determination of both republics to establish close political, economical and cultural ties, to organize fruitful cooperation between the governmental authorities. By protecting human rights, by relaying on strive of their peoples towards self-determination and comprehensive development, the sides are fruitfully working in this direction.
Solid relations and atmosphere of friendship and mutual understanding always existed between Gagauzia and Pridnestrovie. Our peoples jointly had to repel the aggression of Moldovan nationalists. In 1990 Pridnestrovian volunteers gave fraternal assistance to the Gagauz people, preventing escalation of violence during elections to the Supreme Council of Gagauzia. Today strong and friendly ties still exist between sister-cities Komrat and Tiraspol. Two capitals are continuing to develop cooperation in cultural, educational and economic spheres”.
Minister expressed her belief that the Mutual Assistance Agreement will remain the basis for constructive cooperation between Pridnestrovie and Gagauzia.
