Passport Control Procedures on the Ukraine-Pridnestrovian Checkpoints to Be Simplified over the Easter Period

During Easter holidays, passport control procedure at the Ukrainian-Pridnestrovian border for retired men with Soviet passports will be simplified, the press-service of the PMR's President reported. This has become possible due to negotiations of the President of the PMR with Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ukraine in the Republic of Moldova Sergey Pirozhkov.

In the letter addressed to the head of the state, the diplomat specified that the Ukrainian side is ready to simplify crossing procedure for the pensioners holding passports of the Soviet Union exclusively at local checkpoints for the period 14-24 April.

A request to assist in this issue was sent by Yevgeny Shevchuk to Sergey Pirozhkov in the middle of last week. Numerous appeals of the citizens formed the basis of this request.

Besides, during Easter and May holidays procedure of crossing the Pridnestrovian-Ukrainian border will be simplified for the citizens of near-border villages of Kamenka region. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Nina Shtanski reported to the President about this.

According to the information received by foreign office of the republic from Ukrainian Embassy in Moldova, on the 14-16th, as well as 23rd April, checkpoint “Zagnitkovo-Valya-Adynke” in Kamenka region will operate on a temporary basis. It will function also during May 1-2 and 9. Working time of the checkpoint will be from 9 a.m. till 19.00 p.m. Citizens of Kamenka region repeatedly requested to simplify border-crossing procedure in this section.

President of the PMR Yevgeny Shevchuk gave instructions to relevant state bodies to provide necessary conditions for a simplified border-crossing procedure for citizens during Easter holidays and commemorative days.
