On May 24, 2011, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PMR hosted the meeting between Deputy Foreign Minister of the foreign policy institution of the Republic Sergey Simonenko and Press-Secretary of the Munich Security Conference Oliver Rolofs.
According to O. Rolofs, the agenda of the next session of the Security Forum in Munich is planned to include the issue of unsettled conflicts in the post-Soviet space. In this connection, the German side expressed its wish to acquaint itself with the view of the Pridnestrovien side regarding the current situation in the Moldova-Pridnestrovie settlement, as well as with the prospects for resumption of the 5+2 official consultations.
In the course of the conversation, Deputy Foreign Minister S. Simonenko told about the roots and history of the conflict on the Dniester, and also dwelt on the modern situation which has established in the Moldova-Pridnestrovie settlement process. The prerequisites that could contribute to the resumption of a full-fledged dialogue between the sides were covered in details. In particular, focus was laid on the need to abide to the principle of equality of the sides, and also on removal of economic, transport and other barriers against the Pridnestrovien Moldavian Republic introduced unilaterally by the Republic of Moldova.
The International Conference on Security Policy has been held annually in Munich since 1962. Before 1993, it was referred to as a Conference on Military Issues. The participants of the forum are state political leaders, political scientists, experts, and media representatives.
