The reporter was interested in a broad range of topics related to the current situation around Pridnestrovie, the Moldova-Pridnestrovie settlement and the prospects for international developments in light of the ongoing geopolitical processes.

A meeting between Deputy Foreign Minister Alexandr Stetsiuk and the delegation of the United Nations agencies led by Kristin Jenssen, Peace and Development Adviser, took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Among the agencies represented were the UN Development Programme, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and UN Women.

On May 9, Pridnestrovians living in the Russian Federation joined the Immortal Regiment procession in Moscow to recall the contribution that the people of Pridnestrovie made to the victory over Nazi Germany and the defeat of fascism.

Before the march started, Head of the Official Representation of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic in the Russian Federation Leonid Manakov, on behalf of the PMR President, congratulated the Pridnestrovian citizens on Victory Day praising the sacrifice and heroism of Soviet citizens during the Great Patriotic War.

On May 6, Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev received the International Committee of the Red Cross delegation led by Roman Machover. First Deputy Chairman of the Pridnestrovian Republican Bank Alexei Melnik also took part in the meeting.

The meeting was held as part of a working visit by an ICRC mission aimed at addressing the technical aspects of aid to Ukrainian refugees and residents of Pridnestrovie.

A videoconference meeting between the Pridnestrovian and Moldovan experts on the import of medicines took place today, involving representatives of pharmaceutical companies from Pridnestrovie. The session was also attended by representatives of the mediators in the negotiation process and the WHO delegation in Moldova.

The meeting was initiated amid the continuing administrative barriers and constraints in the delivery through the territory of Moldova of vital and socially important medication intended for the population and health facilities of Pridnestrovie.

The Foreign Ministry hosted a meeting between Minister of Foreign Affairs Vitaly Ignatiev and Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Thomas Mayr-Harting. The meeting was attended by Ambassador-at-Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland Artur Dmochowski, Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova Claus Neukirch and the OSCE CiO Coordinator for the Pridnestrovian Settlement Marek Calka.

On April 25-26, the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic came under three terrorist attacks, which prompted the Security Council to adopt the decision to introduce the highest red level of terrorist threat in Pridnestrovie.

At present, the State authorities of the republic are implementing a broad set of measures towards ensuring peace, stability and security of all residents of Pridnestrovie.

Today, the Foreign Ministry hosted a meeting between Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev and the head of the OSCE Mission Claus Neukirch.

The interlocutors focused on Moldova’s blocking of deliveries of vital goods to Pridnestrovie. First of all, medical products, fertilizers and foodstuffs were referred to. Vitaly Ignatiev negatively assessed today’s statement by the Moldovan government as a self-exposure of the use of the blockade tools for the purpose of political pressure on Pridnestrovie.

On April 20, an online discussion of expert (working) groups on transport and road infrastructure development was held. Proposals to convene this meeting were repeatedly voiced by the Pridnestrovian side since last December (the previous one took place on September 24, 2021), but were consistently ignored by the Moldovan side.

On April 18, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent a request to the head of the European Union Delegation to the Republic of Moldova, Janis Mazeiks, concerning the critical situation around Pridnestrovie’s key enterprise JSC Moldova Steel Works.

The Republic of Moldova continues to block the operation of the plant, in particular, by preventing the import of raw materials and the export of finished products both from the territory of Moldova and in transit through it. Restrictions by the Republic of Moldova may bring severe socio-economic consequences.

Because of the destructive actions of the Moldovan side, medicines needed by the population and medical institutions of Pridnestrovie have been detained for several weeks at the Moldova-Romania border and customs terminals of the Republic of Moldova. In addition to the already withheld cargoes, Moldova refuses to issue permits allowing new consignments of medical supplies to be imported. As a result, a significant part of shipments was stopped and in-demand medicines are in short supply.

The Foreign Ministry states that Moldova persistently applies administrative and bureaucratic barriers and restrictions against Pridnestrovian importers.

Thus, on April 6 this year, at a meeting of political representative of Pridnestrovie and Moldova, involving Pridnestrovian pharmaceutical companies, the Moldovan side made a public promise, no later than April 11, to let through one of the importing company's goods that had been at Moldovan customs post in Bulboaca since March 27 and April 1  . However, this promise has not been fulfilled.

A meeting of Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev with a delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross headed by Francois Muniz was held at the Foreign Ministry. The event was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of Social Protection and Labor and the Ministry of Health.

The meeting took place within the working visit of the ICRC delegation to study the humanitarian needs of Ukrainian refugees and residents of Pridnestrovie in the current regional situation.
