As it was reported by the press service of the President of the PMR, yesterday the Head of State Yevgeny Shevchuk received UN Senior Expert on Human Rights in Pridnestrovie Thomas Hammarberg.
At the beginning of the meeting with UN delegation the President of the PMR noted that the number of steps directed on improvement of the mechanisms of protection of human rights had already been made in the Republic. Pridnestrovie is ready for cooperation with international organizations in order to achieve actual results in this direction.
Thomas Hammarberg came to Pridnestrovie several days ago. He held meetings with the representatives of bodies of state power of the Republic, visited a number of organizations of social protection and penitentiary institutions of the Republic. “The problems in the sphere of human rights exist in any country of the world, Pridnestrovie is not an exception. It is very important for people in power to manage to build dialogue both with external experts and with representatives of their own population in order to have complete information on existing problems,” Thomas Hammarberg said.
