Meeting of expert (working) groups from Pridnestrovie and Moldova on regulatory and document support of citizens in Bendery

After a long break, a meeting of expert (working) groups from Pridnestrovie and Moldova on regulatory and document support of citizens was held on April 2016.

During the meeting the sides discussed a wide range of topical issues of concern connected first of all with the transferring and processing of personal data of citizens. In this context, Pridnestrovie and Moldova’s experts discussed the possibility to work on the mechanism of interaction between specialized services involved in vital records registration.

The Moldovan side was interested, particularly, in authentication of birth and death certificates of citizens issued in Pridnestrovie. In turn, the Pridnestrovian side focused attention on the problem of obtaining relevant, regularly updated information about changes made to the acts of civil status by specialized agencies of Moldova.

The meeting also touched upon fundamental aspects on providing personal data protection. The sides agreed on the need to simplify the procedural issues that are practically important for the citizens when doing various legal formalities daily.

In addition, during the meeting the Pridnestrovian delegation passed a draft agreement, the provisions of which develop and concretize the initiative previously provided by Pridnestrovie on actualization of the Protocol on the mutual recognition of documents in Pridnestrovie and Moldova issued by the competent authorities of the parties, of 16 May 2001. We remind, the verbal agreement on the revitalization of the mentioned Protocol was reached during a meeting of political representatives on 9 October 2015.

Special attention in the framework of the meeting was paid to the search for instruments of resolving the problems with duplicate alimony payments made by citizens pursuant to court order of Pridnestrovie and Moldova.

Following the discussion, the parties expressed their willingness to continue to work on current issues of the agenda and in the near future to exchange specific proposals aimed at resolving the existing problematic aspects with emphasis on the development of an effective mechanism for request exchange, suggesting the processing of personal data.
