Nina Shtanski: a special discussion on the Pridnestrovian settlement will take place on April 21, in Vienna

04/06/15

Deputy Chairperson of the Government of the PMR for International Cooperation, Foreign Minister Nina Shtanski told about it today while interacting with the media after the meeting of the political representatives of Pridnestrovie and Moldova.

The diplomat noted that the media, unfortunately, often unscrupulously interpret what they heard from political representatives. We remind that this is about the information spread in the Moldovan media about the allegedly planned resumption of the negotiations in the “5+2” format in Vienna on April 21. According to the foreign minister, the negotiations of the parties did not stop, they go on at many levels and the “official meetings of the format “5+2”” are just one of them”. At that, the meeting of the representatives of the parties in the Austrian capital will be held indeed in a special format which is not an official round of talks.

“Under a number of constraints, prosecution of Pridnestrovians and a quite a few of other barriers to healthy working at some stage we have already postponed several official meetings of the rounds in the “5+2” format. It does not mean that the negotiations were stopped or interrupted, because the negotiations - this is what has happened today, and what happens every day, including through the exchange of letters and phone calls. It is impossible to resume what was not stopped. Nevertheless, on April 21 a special discussion of the “5+2” participants will take place - such an initiative was put forward by the Pridnestrovian side immediately after the postponement of several rounds of the negotiations in the “5+2” format,” – said the diplomat.

The discussions will be held on April 21, at the same time, according to Nina Shtanski, there will be no any issues on the agenda, and the purpose of the meeting - to determine the attitude of all the participants in the negotiation process to the fundamental documents of the negotiation process, “to clarify the status of individual participants in the negotiations and to decide how to continue the interaction in this format”.
