10/27/16

Today, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Vitaly Ignatiev met with Ambassador at Large of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sergey Gubarev during his working visit to the capital of the Russian Federation. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Director of the Second CIS Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry Vitaly Triapitsyn.

During the discussion the sides exchanged views on the situation in the negotiation process between Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova. In particular, Vitaly Ignatiev informed Russian colleagues on the current dialogue dynamics at the level of expert (working) groups, as well as on the results of the meeting of political representatives from Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova on 13 October.

The Foreign Minister stated that the Moldovan side is not ready to work in the framework of the “Permanent Conference...” in the 5+2 format at present. According to the diplomat, “deficit of positive movements” can also be seen in the interaction of expert (working) groups, as representatives of the Republic of Moldova continue to demonstrate lack of readiness for systematic and substantive dialogue with the Pridnestrovian side.

At the meeting the need was reaffirmed for a speedy resolution of some socio-economic problems at the negotiating table, including as reflected in the Berlin Protocol.
