The PMR MFA held a meeting between the PMR Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev and the delegation of representatives of mediators and observers in the negotiation process in the “Permanent Conference ...” format.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Slovak Republic to the Republic of Moldova Dusan Dacho, Minister counsellor of the Russian Embassy to Moldova Roman Romanov, Co-Chair of the JCC from Russia Ilia Uvarov, US Deputy Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova Martin McDowell, Deputy Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova Lajos Karakas, First Secretary of the Ukrainian Embassy to  the Republic of Moldova Sergey Zhivchuk and political advisor of the EU Delegation to Moldova Olga Beinarovica.

During the conversation, Vitaly Ignatiev expressed his gratitude to the international partners and participants in the 5+2 format for the constant attention to the settlement process of the Moldovan-Pridnestrovian relations. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR stressed that there is a need to maintain the dynamics of the dialogue including the enhanced communication among the participants in the 5+2 format, until Moldovan authorities are formed and a political representative in Moldova is appointed.

 “We highly appreciate the visit of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office and those messages that were conveyed during the working discussions. We received an important signal that the Moldovan-Pridnestrovian settlement remains among the priorities of the OSCE in the coming years. We also support the idea of ​​making contacts more regular at all levels of the negotiation process, including meetings of the 5+2 format”, the PMR Foreign Minister noted.

Within the framework of the long communication, Vitaly Ignatiev presented the position of the Pridnestrovian side on a wide range of topical issues related to the current relations between Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova. The Head of the Pridnestrovian Foreign Ministry, in particular, reaffirmed the commitment of the Pridnestrovian  side to solving practical social and humanitarian issues at the negotiating table for the benefit of the people. In this context, the Minister stressed the need for the parties to responsibly execute the agreements already signed, including on telecommunications and the closure of politically motivated criminal cases.

During the discussion, Vitaly Ignatiev also drew attention to a number of public statements by representatives of the Republic of Moldova who touched upon the settlement process. The Head of the Pridnestrovian Foreign Ministry stressed that another important goal of the meeting in the Foreign Ministry is to provide an opportunity to get first-hand information about the position of Pridnestrovie.

At the end of the meeting, participants in the discussion highly appreciated the opportunity to exchange views on topical issues in a multilateral format. Vitaly Ignatiev, in particular, noted that such a format of dialogue with mediators and observers can become a good tradition and an important mechanism for strengthening joint work in the negotiation process.
