Today, Foreign Ministry of Pridnestrovie hosted the meeting between deputy Chairperson of the Government of the PMR for International Cooperation, Foreign Minister Nina Shtanski and the delegation of the European Union headed by Special Reporter of the European Parliament for liberalization of visa regime between the European Union and the Republic of Moldova, member of the European Parliament Tanja Fajon. Participating in the meeting was also assistant to Ms. Fajon, Yure Tanko, Political Adviser of the Delegation of the European Union in Moldova Mindaugas Kacerauskis and adviser of the Socialists and Democrats Group in the European Parliament Sophia Asteriadi.

Participants of the meeting discussed a number of issues relating to topical problems of interaction between the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic and the Republic of Moldova. In particular, Pridnestrovian side paid key attention to the problem of free movement of people. This topic was emphasized by Nina Shtanski as one of the most sensitive in interaction between the sides. “Unfortunately, Pridnestrovian people still face many constraints, such as forced documenting of our citizens, failure of Moldova's authorities to provide Pridnestrovian people with a stateless person certificate. This makes it impossible for people who was born and today live in Pridnestrovie to obtain citizenship of other countries”, head of the PMR's MFA reported to her interlocutors. Nina Shtanski also told that the mentioned problems are constantly addressed at the level of experts and political representatives of the sides with the participation of international experts.

Participants of the meeting concurred that free movement is a universal value and cannot be limited no matter what nationality a person possesses. Nina Shtanski and Tanja Fajon agreed to cooperate and share information in order not to allow any restrictions in relation to the right of the Pridnestrovian citizens for free movement.
