The Foreign Ministry hosted a meeting between Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Alexandr Stetsiuk and Deputy Head of the Embassy of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Republic of Moldova Neil Martin.

Welcoming the guest, Alexandr Stetsiuk expressed his gratitude to the British side for intensive attention to Pridnestrovie both within the framework of bilateral cooperation and in terms of the current situation in the negotiation process between Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova. The Deputy Minister also highly appreciated the implemented project on the delivery of a fire appliance from the United Kingdom to Pridnestrovie.

In the course of the dialogue, the diplomat drew attention of the British side to the fact that Moldova and Ukraine had launched a joint customs-border control project at the Kuchurgan checkpoint, despite numerous arguments of Pridnestrovie about the inadmissibility of such a decision. At the same time, Alexandr Stetsiuk noted that this unilateral step will undoubtedly have serious negative consequences in various spheres and is the next stage in the blockade of the Pridnestrovian state.

“Unfortunately, Kiev and Kishinev took concrete practical measures to implement joint control. In this context, we are even more eager to maintain international contacts with our partners in order to inform them about objective development of the situation, including relations between Pridnestrovie and Moldova”, said the Deputy Minister.

During the meeting, the interlocutors also discussed a number of issues of further cooperation between Pridnestrovie and the British Embassy.
