Today Acting Foreign Minister of the PMR Vitaly Ignatiev met with the delegation of the Republic of Serbia, headed by President of the Third Serbia political party Miroslav Parovich at the Foreign Ministry of Pridnestrovie. Deputy Foreign Ministers Dmitry Palamarchuk and Igor Shornikov also took part in the meeting.

Welcoming the guests Vitaly Ignatiev expressed gratitude to the guests for coming to the republic in such a difficult period of time when Moldova is making every effort to limit as much as possible the international contacts of Pridnestrovie, including in the scientific field. The diplomat also expressed confidence that the success of the Pridnestrovian-Serbian conference held on November 26 will be the key to further strengthening contacts with the Republic of Serbia. “I think this kind of event will be one of the stages of development of a complex interaction between Pridnestrovie and Serbia. Our mutual interests are not limited to the sphere of science, so we are ready to discuss the widest possible number of areas in which we could cooperate,” - said the Foreign Minister.

Miroslav Parovich, in his turn, stressed that Serbia is well aware of the conditions in which Pridnestrovie is forced to exist today. “We came from the state whose people know well the specifics of your problems. We know how to live in a hostile environment, under international sanctions,” - he stressed.

The prospects for intensified trade and economic cooperation between Serbia and Pridnestrovie were discussed at the meeting. The two sides agreed in the near future to explore possible mechanisms for establishing direct contacts in economy, including through economic entities.

The sides also agreed on the need to mainstream the Pridnestrovian issue in Serbia, particularly in the media and expert community.
