On Meeting of Subgroups on Banking Issues

10/24/19

On the initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pridnestrovie, the OSCE Mission Office in Kishinev hosted the regular meeting of banking subgroups. The Pridnestrovian delegation was led by Vladislav Tidva, Chairman of the Pridnestrovian Republican Bank.

During the meeting, the Pridnestrovian side suggested to the Moldovan representatives joint elaboration of mechanisms for resolving outstanding banking issues, and also urged Kishinev to terminate application of restrictive measures in relation to international financial transactions by Pridnestrovian enterprises engaged in foreign economic activity. In this context, Pridnestrovie updated relevant data on refusal to open and service accounts of Pridnestrovian economic agents.

At the same time, the Moldovan side refused to reconcile data on Pridnestrovian enterprises having accounts in commercial banks of the Republic of Moldova. Memorably, according to the Pridnestrovian Republican Bank, twenty-five economic agents are meant, while the Moldovan side claims that more than four hundred enterprises from Pridnestrovie have opened accounts in Moldova.

Negotiation on the current problematic situation in the banking sector, as well as prospects for bilateral interaction between the parties in this area will be continued with the participation of international experts at a target panel within the Bavarian Conference on Confidence Building Measures, scheduled for early November of this year in Germany.
