Press Release in connection with the Politicization of Issues Discussed within the JCC by the Delegation of the Republic of Moldova
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic expresses its concern about the destructive actions of the delegation of the Republic of Moldova, aimed at the systematic blocking of planned work of the Joint Control Commission. So, over the past six JCC meetings the Moldovan delegation, pushing unilateral ultimatums, refuses to agree on a working agenda and to discuss a complex of topical issues within the mandate of the Joint Control Commission, which is a flagrant violation of the current regulations of JCC.At the same time the PMR's MFA expresses particular concern over the increasingly frequent attempts of individual members of the Moldovan delegation to deliberately politicise the current issues affecting the problematic aspects that lie outside the competence of the Joint Control Commission. Attempts of the Moldovan side to speculate in terms of the negotiation process in the "5 +2" format and voice their own interpretation and evaluation of contractual and legal settlement components of the Moldovan-Pridnestrovian relations have nothing to do with the intention to perform their professional duties seriously and responsibly in the framework of the Joint Control Commission to ensure peace and security on the Dniester River. In connection with the above said, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic calls on the Moldovan delegation in the JCC to return to the track of a constructive dialogue, to abandon the practice of blocking the normal operation of the Commission and the deliberate politicization of problematic issues. We are convinced that the declared by Moldovan side willingness to solve the problematic issues in the Security Zone should be realized only within the framework of the existing mechanisms for trilateral peacekeeping operation with respect of and compliance with regulatory and legal basis of JCC activity. The 22-year positive experience of peacekeeping on the Dniester River testifies high efficiency and absolute no alternative of such approach in order to find a balanced and mutually acceptable solutions in a wide range of areas.
