The Turkish Ambassador transferred costumes to the Historical Museum of the Bendery Fortress

The solemn ceremony of transferring the costume of Turkish janissaries and the genuine flag of the Ottoman Empire to the fortress museum took place on the territory of the Historical Military and Memorial Complex “Bendery Fortress” today. The initiator of the event was the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in the Republic of Moldova. The ceremony was attended by Turkey's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Moldova Mehmet Selim Kartal, director of the SUE HMMC “Bendery Fortress” Pavel Prokudin, and invited guests. The Foreign Ministry of the Republic was presented by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Igor Shornikov.

According to Mehmet Selim Kartal, the Turkish side shows great attention to the Bendery fortress as a historical monument and the largest Ottoman fortress outside Turkey.

Director of the historical museum Pavel Prokudin thanked the Turkish side for a very valuable enrichment of the museum and the high level of cooperation between the sides aimed at preserving the common historical heritage. Igor Shornikov, in his turn, stressed the importance of the cultural component of the complex whose walls are witnesses to major historical events that have had a significant impact on the history of the region.
