European Village in the Centre of Tiraspol?

Today “European Village” was opened in Pobeda (Victory) Park within the Europe Day in Tiraspol. Those participating in the event were the Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova Dirk Schuebel, heads of diplomatic missions of Germany, France, the Czech Republic, Italy, Sweden, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Austria, Finland, Hungary, Great Britain, Poland and Turkey. Deputy Chairperson of the Government for International Cooperation of the PMR, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Nina Shtanski also participated in the opening of the “European Village”.



“The Europe Days are held nowadays in many CIS-countries, several Russian cities and today Pridnestrovie welcomes foreign guests who have come to introduce their national culture,” Nina Shtanski mentioned in her address. “We are also glad that our guests can get acquainted with people living in Tiraspol, with culture of Pridnestrovie and to understand our identity thanks to this event. We are always open to friendship and cooperation,” she said.



According to the Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova Dirk Schuebel, “Europe Day, held for the first time, will allow to present Europe in its variety.”



Visiting “European Village” guests of the event could enjoy traditional European cuisine, participate in the workshops of traditional dances of the peoples of Europe. Everyone could gain basic knowledge in European languages in the field linguistic schools. Young visitors had fun in the children corner, presenting body-art painting and drawings on the pavement. The cultural programme was followed by three-hour concert featuring European music stars.
