Topical Issues of the Peacekeeping Operation have been Discussed in the PMR’s MFA Today

Today, the working meeting between Deputy Chairperson of the Government of the PMR for International cooperation, Foreign Minister Nina Shtanski and Co-Chairperson of the Joint Control Commission from the Russian Federation Yevgeny Vereshchaga took place in the Foreign Ministry of the PMR.

During the meeting participants discussed a set of topical issues in the context of peacekeeping operation focusing on practical aspects of bilateral cooperation in compliance with current treaty and legal grounds in that area.

A particular attention was drawn to the current problems in the work of some components of the peacekeeping mechanism, including the activity of the Joint Control Commission which includes the Permanent Official Representative of the Foreign Ministry from Pridnestrovie.

Nina Shtanski expressed appreciation to the Russian side for the efforts undertaken with a view to resuming the full planned work of the JCC.

The sides agreed to continue working contacts in the area of peacekeeping in order to provide comprehensive assistance in implementation of the fundamental Agreement on the Principles of a peaceful settlement of 1992 and other entitling agreements adopted throughout a 22 year period of functioning of the peacekeeping operation on the Dniester, recognized as one of the most successful in the European continent.
