RBK-TV Broadcasts the Interview with the President of Pridnestrovie by Today

Today at 6:44 am (Moscow time) RBK-TV started broadcasting the interview with the President of Pridnestrovie Yevgeny Shevchuk. There will be 12 presentations of the interview throughout the day.

The Head of the State said in the interview about the importance of the Russian Federation for Pridnestrovians. “Pridnestrovie closely follows the events taking place in Russia and development of relation with the Russian Federation. We are supersensitive to the absence of positive momentum in these relations for certain periods of time. In this regard I want to remind of referenda which allowed forming of positive attitude to Russia among most Pridnestrovians in democratic atmosphere,” Yevgeny Shevchuk said. He explained that Pridnestrovians would like “to join countries through possible entry in the Russian Federation or through other integration processes.” “The Russian Federation is the state which reflects aspirations of most Pridnestrovians,” stressed the President of the PMR.

Yevgeny Shevchuk also noted that there are a lot of domestic challenges in Pridnestrovie. There are difficulties in cooperation with Kishinev, in crossing the Pridnestrovian-Ukrainian border by Russian nationals, in obtaining documents - passports of the Russian Federation and several others. “These issues have accumulated over decades and it is impossible to resolve them in one day,” the President stated. According to him, assignment of Deputy Chairperson of the Government of Russia, Special Representative of the President of the RF for Pridnestrovie Dmitry Rogozin by the Russian leadership promoted the arrangement of conditions for a more dynamic resolution of these issues. “Certain tasks, which are set in the Russian agencies to help citizens of Russia, have already been implemented. Some issues require a longer period of time; others can only be settled in cooperation with Moldova. For example, the matter of the consulate, a certain mode of trade with the Russian Federation,” said Yevgeny Shevchuk.

He expressed hope that “Russia will make more active efforts in 2013 while assisting in solving issues of Russian nationals residing here and Pridnestrovie in whole.” “I think that we need a bolder approach to the issues and prospects of Pridnestrovie. It is necessary to raise the question: what shall Pridnestrovians including Russian nationals do if they have no desire to join Moldova or Romania? You can hear clearer and louder today in Pridnestrovie that we would like to get a clear and precise position of the Russian leadership on the prospects for Pridnestrovie,” the President of the PMR emphasized.

Besides, the Head of the State assessed the situation in Pridnestrovie for the past 15 months describing them as a difficult period. “The ongoing global economic instability affects Pridnestrovie. These 15 months are a period of, let us say, macroeconomic stabilization,” said Yevgeny Shevchuk. He also reminded that the particularly acute situation was in the beginning of last year, when our country had no currency assets, no revenues, and provision of social payments was topical question. “Despite this difficult situation, we managed to stabilize the macroeconomic indicators. New systems of control, tax administration were arranged. And a new system has demonstrated its effectiveness,” Yevgeny Shevchuk said. According to him, authorities collected more taxes amid the output reduction. The budget was fulfilled by 138%, collection of tax revenue increased on more than 60% in comparison to the previous year. “This is finally an indicator of effective work!” stated the President.

Yevgeny Shevchuk paid attention to the fact that the internal challenges in economics and social life of the country are still very sensitive because today Pridnestrovie remains unrecognized from the point of view of international law. “It hinders our foreign economic activity and causes difficulties in economics. We feel a permanent pressure on Pridnestrovie through these aspects. It is necessary to make decisions in releasing our transport infrastructure. We could increase our own income on 20-30% just by releasing our logistics. It should include vehicles, vessels, and possibly air transport. This is potential direction for the Republic,” summarized the President of Pridnestrovie.
