Evgeny Shevchuk: “Eurasian Aspirations of Pridnestrovie – the Basis of National Idea”

Yevgeny Shevchuk charged Ministry of Foreign Affairs to prepare draft of new wording of Foreign Policy Concept of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. Foreign Policy Course of the State, defined by Pridnestrovian people must be fixed by this document. The present information was provided by the press service of the President of the PMR.

Foreign Policy Concept must take account of contemporary processes taking place in the world. “In recent years Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan became a locomotive of economical integration on the territory of Eurasia. In relation to economy Pridnestrovie is the region with decent labor recourses. We are tied with the states of Common Economic Space with long-term trade and industrial connections,” the Head of State noticed. President expressed confidence in the possibility of revival of Pridnestrovian economy in the framework of Customs Union and Common Economic Space of Eurasian countries. ”The idea of integration of Pridnestrovie is entirely bolstered with the will of the people, expressed during the Referendum held on September 17, 2006. All the logic of historical development of the State, beginning with the moment of creation of Republic up to the present days, tells, that Pridnestrovie is inalienable part of Eurasian civilization space,” the President of the PMR said. Moreover he emphasized that Eurasian aspirations of Pridnestrovie are the basis of national idea. The course on European integration, as it was marked by Yevgeny Shevchuk, must become the principal leitmotif of foreign policy of our State.


Pridnestrovian President charged Ministry of Foreign Affairs to initiate consistent activity on exploration of possibilities of economical integration of Pridnestrovie into the structures of Eurasian Economic Community, Customs Union and Common Economic Space with the purpose of direct participation of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic in creation of Eurasian Union. Minister Nina Shtanski undertook to make reports on the activity in given direction for the Head of State

In is instructive to recall that effectual Foreign Policy Concept of the PMR was adopted in 2005. Foreign policy guidelines are defined by the President of the PMR in compliance with Pridnestrovian Constitution.
