The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs that on December 22 of this year, the customs authorities of the Republic of Moldova unreasonably detained a cargo comprising neutral and Pridnestrovian license plates.
The measures taken through political and diplomatic channels to release the Pridnestrovian cargo as soon as possible did not yield positive results.
This destructive step of the Moldovan side grossly contradicts the basic agreements of the negotiation process and directly the Protocol Decision of April 24, 2018. We consider Moldova’s actions to block the delivery of license plates to Pridnestrovie as deliberately creating obstacles to the normal schedules operation of the vehicle registration mechanism at the respective offices in Tiraspol and Rybnitsa.
Due to the blocking of the VRO’s work, the Foreign Ministry of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic today officially notified the Moldovan side and international representatives in the “5+2” format of the temporary suspension of the participation of the Pridnestrovian side in this mechanism from December 29 until the comprehensive normalization of the situation.
