11/26/21

During a working trip to the capital of the Russian Federation, the PMR Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev met with the Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian MFA Vitaly Tryapitsyn.

The key topic of the conversation was the current situation in relations between Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova. The PMR Foreign Minister stated the ongoing degradation of the negotiation process associated with the failure of the Moldovan side to fulfill previously reached agreements and the initiation of new restrictive measures against the PMR, which resulted in massive violations of the rights of Pridnestrovians.

Separately, the Minister drew attention to the actual blocking by the Republic of Moldova of dynamic and productive work, including the disruption of the “Permanent Conference ...” meeting. In this context, the sides agreed on the need to resume the full-fledged work of the existing negotiation mechanism at all levels as soon as possible, including in the “5+2” format.

As a follow-up to the discussion, an exchange of views took place on the ways out of the current negotiating impasse and on the overall prospects for the dialogue between the PMR and the Republic of Moldova. The sides also paid attention to the development of bilateral Russian-Pridnestrovian cooperation in various fields and the functioning of the peacekeeping operation on the Dniester.

Concluding the meeting, Vitaly Ignatiev and Vitaly Tryapitsyn agreed to continue regular working communication across the entire spectrum of relevant areas of interaction.
