The Foreign Ministry hosted a meeting between Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Her Majesty the Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Republic of Moldova Steven Fisher.

During the conversation, the diplomats focused on the current status of the negotiation process between Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova. The emphasis was placed on Ukraine's ban for Pridnestrovian vehicles to enter and move through its territory since September 1 this year. The Minister stated the extreme urgency of this issue, which requires an early resolution. According to him, the restrictions initiated at the request of the Republic of Moldova have already given rise to a whole range of humanitarian problems, including the inability of special vehicles of the PMR to travel to medical institutions of Ukraine for urgent medical care.

As a follow-up to the discussion, the Minister stressed that the Pridnestrovian side expects the Republic of Moldova to fulfill all the obligations assumed within the framework of the Berlin+ package of agreements to address social and humanitarian issues for the benefit of people.

The sides also exchanged views on the prospects for further work on the Moldovan-Pridnestrovian settlement. The PMR Foreign Minister emphasized the need to restore the stable functioning of the “Permanent Meeting ...” platform under the Principles and Procedures of the negotiation process.

Concluding the meeting, the parties agreed to continue systematic communication on the entire spectrum of topical areas of bilateral cooperation.
