On May 25, took place a videoconference, this year's first meeting of Expert (Working) Groups on railway transport and communications from Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova.

Within the meeting framework, parties reviewed the current situation in the field of rail freight and discussed a wide range of topical issues that negatively affect the economy in this industry. Among them are the preservation of administrative barriers, including the ban on the transportation of oil products through the Slobodka-Kolbasna border crossing on the border of Pridnestrovie and Ukraine, as well as the aggravation of existing problems with the level of technical equipment and the state of the railway infrastructure in Moldova.

During the meeting, the Pridnestrovian side came up with a number of practical initiatives aimed at overcoming the current crisis situation in the railway sector, which are planned to be discussed at the experts’ level in the near future.

Separately, the experts discussed the prospects for resuming rail passengers’ traffic in the near future, in particular, on the routes "Moscow - Chisinau" and "Chisinau - Odessa".

Besides, within the framework of the meeting, the delegations of Pridnestrovie and Moldova reaffirmed their principled readiness to once again prolong the Protocol Decision "On the principles of the resumption of full-fledged freight railway communication through the territory of Pridnestrovie" dated March 30, 2012.
