On the Discussion between the Pridnestrovian President and the Head of OSCE Mission to Moldova Klaus Neukirch

The meeting between the Pridnestrovian President with the European diplomat took place in a video format. The Head of the PMR’s Foreign Ministry, Vitaly Ignatiev attended the meeting as well.

Greeting Klaus Neukirch, Vadim Krasnoselsky noted that international Community Representatives’ attention is important to the republic. The Head of OSCE Mission to Moldova stated ad his turn that he is attentively following the situation in Pridnestrovie and the events occurring along the perimeter that have influence on.

The interlocutors discussed the progress of the negotiation process between Pridnestrovie and the Republic of Moldova. Vadim Krasnoselsky underlined the aspects that impede its systematic course. The discussion was about the destructive steps that the Moldovan side takes, thus complicating the dialogue. Separate attention was paid to measures that the Pridnestrovian authority takes to protect its citizens’ rights and interests and to keep the negotiation mechanism’s capacity.

In connection to the above mentioned, the Head of the PMR noted that the pandemic period became a sort of exam passing for the Moldovan-Pridnestrovian relationship. It detected the political background of Moldova’s counterproductive actions and showed the contradictions’ depth between the sides. Vadim Krasnoselsky and Klaus Neukirch mentioned also they welcome the resumption of sides’ experts work. It was anyway mentioned that this very work did not bring any tangible results.  

The Pridnestrovian President drew his interlocutor’s attention that it is necessary that the Moldovan side fully implement the whole complex of reached agreements in the frame of Berlin+ package. The interlocutors exchanged opinions on a wide range of pressing issues and discussed the further cooperation parameters.  

The conversation was also about successes within coronavirus fighting in the world and in Pridnestrovie itself. Vadim Krasnoselsky informed Klaus Neukirch about the Pridnestrovian COVID-19 experience and mass spread prevention and about the way the country is gradually lifting the comprehensible quarantine.
