The Pridnestrovian President Hosted an Introductory Meeting with the Ukrainian Ambassador

The Head of the Ukrainian Embassy Mark Shevchenko paid a visit to Tiraspol. He detains the post of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Moldova since the end of the last year. On March 5, the President of the PMR Vadim Krasnoselsky received the diplomat while the latter was introduced by the Special Representative of Ukraine on Moldovan-Pridnestrovian settlement Viktor Kryzhanivsky. The working discussion was also attended by the Pridnestrovian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vitaly Ignatiev, Special Representative of the President of the PMR on Ukrainian cooperation issues Vladimir Smirnov and the Ambassador – at – Large in the rank of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ruslan Slobodeniuk.

Greeting the interlocutors Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized that the Ukrainian direction is one of the priority in the Pridnestrovian’s foreign policy. It is explained by both territorial neighboring and historical ties connecting the two states and their people. Vadim Krasnoselsky recalled that one hundred thousand Ukrainian citizens live in Pridnestrovie and the quantity of those who believe themselves Ukrainian compatriots is half as much. The Head of State pointed at the affinity of those people, at the economic and humanitarian cooperation of the two countries, at Ukraine’s participation in the work of the “Permanent meeting…” format. The Pridnestrovian President emphasized that the Ukrainian representatives’ opinion as participants to the negotiation process is highly respected by Pridnestrovians. 

The meeting participators exchanged views and opinions on a wide range of issues connected to Pridnestrovian-Ukrainian cooperation and the 5+2 format work. The introductory meeting proceeded in an interactive way. The detailed discussion laid a beginning to the next stage of cooperation activity between the Pridnestrovian government and the Ukrainian Embassy that the sides agreed to maintain at the working level.
