09/30/09
According to the Russian MFA Information and Press Department, State Secretary and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Grigory Karasin received on September 30 the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Transdniestria, Vladimir Yastrebchak.

During the conversation, prospects for resuming the negotiation process for a political settlement of the Transdniestrian conflict, as well as issues of humanitarian and economic cooperation between Russian regions and Transdniestria were discussed.

Regarding the fact that new power structures continue to be formed in Kishinev, the Transdniestrian side reiterated its interest in preserving the principle of equality in the dialogue on conflict resolution and in reaffirming agreements reached earlier, including those which were fixed in Moscow Joint Statement of March 18, 2009. A responsible approach to these issues will to a large extent serve as an evidence of the interest of the Moldovan leadership in continuing the constructive search for a sustainable and viable way of a political settlement on the Dniester.
