Nina Shtanski: “There Are No Winners and No Defeated Ones! Expert Activity Is a Special Kind of Diplomacy”

Today office of the OSCE Mission in Tiraspol saw extended meeting of expert (working) groups of Pridnestrovie and Moldova with the participation of representatives of participants of consultations in 5+2 format. The event took place with renewed composition of the expert groups on the initiative of the Pridnestrovien side

In her welcoming speech Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Nina Shtanski told, that today's meeting will start new activity expert groups. According to her, many things have already been done in this respect: the regulations were coordinated and signed; the compositions of expert groups were specified. Addressing those present, Minister noted that forthcoming activity is a special kind of diplomacy that has no winners and no defeated ones. The diplomacy which aims to settlement of certain, practical issues and problems of the people living on the both banks of the Dniester. According to Nina Shtanski, simultaneous preliminary work on expert level creates also a certain atmosphere of confidence for full-fledged activity on high diplomatic level. In conclusion of her speech Minister said: “I wish you to be firm in your intention to achieve mutually acceptable mechanisms and decisions, to be assertive and persistent in overcoming the disagreements, to be tolerant to the difference of opinions and ideologies, to respect each other's opinions and professionalism and to be responsible! All the best!”

After the end of the meeting Political Representative from the Republic of Moldova, vice-premier Yevgeny Karpov reported during the interview given to journalists that on given stage Kishinev and Tiraspol are ready for positive settlement of designated problems. In the first place they concern common people and economical agents on the both sides of the Dniester.

 Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Nina Shtanski in her turn informed journalists, that participation of representatives of participants of the consultations in 5+2 format in today's meeting is a signal that, the proposal made by the Pridnestrovien side in Dublin was taken into account. Minister expressed hope that participants of the consultations in 5+2 format will be involved in future expert activity.

 Nina Shtanski also informed, that on present stage the sides define the direction of future cooperation. The certain issues to be worked at are already known. Minister reminded that the first step towards the constructive dialogue between Tiraspol and Kishinev has already been made: the ionizing radiation sources were removed from the territory of Rybnitsa Sugar and Alcohol Plant. “The event passed on high organizational level. This testifies to the effect that Pridnestrovie and Moldova are able to solve certain problems which concern welfare and security of people,” Head of the PMR's MFA concluded.
