Pridnestrovian Mass-Media Promotes Information Cooperation with Europe

Today Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Igor Shornikov met CE experts on mass media Laurent Ruy and Dumitru Lazar. The meeting was also attended by Yevgeny Zubov, the Head of State Service for Communication, Information and Mass Media, Elena Rozhenko, Deputy Head of State Service for Communication, Information and Mass Media, Irina Dementyeva, Chief of the PGTRK Public Institution (Pridnestrovian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company), and Svetlana Raspopova, Head of the Chair of Journalism at T. Shevchenko Pridnestrovian State University.



The parties discussed various aspects of cooperation in the sphere of information. In particular, they discussed the possibility of sharing experiences through seminars and workshops organized by the Council of Europe for Pridnestrovian experts.



“The Foreign Ministry of the PMR has been extensively cooperating with the mission of the Council of Europe for a long time. Such cooperation is particularly relevant in the information field,” was noted in the meeting. “It is extremely important to improve professional and technical development of Pridnestrovian media to the standards that are common in most European countries,” Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Igor Shornikov said. The representative of the Foreign Ministry also noted that access to objective and updated information is an important condition for ensuring human and civil rights.



During the conversation Yevgeny Zubov expressed his opinion on the relevance of adoption of foreign experience by Pridnestrovian media. In particular, today qualified staff of technical specialties is highly sought. According to the Head of State Service for Communication, Information and Mass Media creative specialists and manager staff of Pridnestrovian media also need advanced training.



Representatives of the Foreign Ministry stressed that communications policy of the Pridnestrovian state is open and is focused on the protection of public interests of the Republic. The main tasks of foreign communications policy are specified in the concept paper – the Foreign Policy Concept of the PMR. The actual challenge for Pridnestrovie is to use information resources in order to create a positive image of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic abroad.



In the course of the meeting parties changed proposals relating to interaction prospects while developing mass media.
