Bureau of Special Representative of the Russian Federation for Pridnestrovie may be opened in Tiraspol which will work on permanent basis and shall assume part of functions on providing consular service. Dmitry Rogozin told about such possibility today while commenting on the problem of exchange of international passports for Russian citizens and on the ability to get Russian passports for Pridnestrovian residents. Speaking before the representatives of scientific circles of the Republic he mentioned that Russia will make such step if no positive solution of this problem will be found in dialogue with Moldova on the issue of opening of Consulate General in Tiraspol.

Dmitry Rogozin said that problem caused by the insufficient possibilities of the Russian Embassy in the Republic of Moldova to provide consular service for Russian citizens residing in Pridnestrovie is known to Russian high authorities and should be solved in nearest future. He showed perplexity with the position of Moldovan authorities which do not permit opening of Russian Consulate General in Tiraspol. In this connection he noticed that several Romanian Consulates General are functioning freely on the territory of Moldova and this fact does not cause any worries.
