Head of PMR’s MFA met with Representative of Carnegie Endowment

Today Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Nina Shtanski held working meeting with Deputy Director of Russia and Eurasia program of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace Matthew Rojansky. Interlocutors discussed actual issues of normalization process of Pridnestrovian-Moldovan relations some of which will probably be discussed by the experts from Moldova, Pridnestrovie, Russia, Ukraine, the EU and the USA on settlement of Moldo-Pridnestrovian conflict.


As expected, forum of experts will take place within the next few days in Frankenwarte Academy in Wurzburg (Germany). This will be the second meeting in this format, the first one being held in September 2011. It was organized with the assistance of Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, Friedrich Ebert Foundation, Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the European Union and the UN Development Program. The organizers are willing to use experience of the so-called Dartmouth Dialogues which took place during the Cold War in order to maintain firm dialogue between the West and the Soviet Union. Working group of non-governmental experts set themselves the goal to improve strengthening of mutual respect and confidence between Moldova and Pridnestrovie as a goal. Nina Shtanski took part in the first meeting of the working group as an expert in September.

Matthew Rojansky noted the importance and high value of such meetings of experts and their ability to talk on any issues, to listen to argumentative critics and to take part in working out recommendations which can be used by the parties in their practical activity.

Interlocutors also discussed first successes of the small steps tactics and touched upon the issues of perspectives of the further work of Permanent Conference during the dialogue.
