The Foreign Ministry hosted a meeting between Deputy Chairperson of the Government of the PMR for International Cooperation, Minister of Foreign Affairs Nina Shtanski and a delegation from the Republic of South Ossetia consisting of Minister of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia Kazbulat Tskhovrebov, Chairman of the South Ossetia Parliament Committee on Foreign Relations and Inter-parliamentary Relations Igor Kochiev and Head of the Official Representation of the Republic of South Ossetia in the PMR Sergei Surago.

During the welcoming speech Nina Shtanski stressed that the activities to mark the anniversary of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic will be held in South Ossetia, in particular a diplomatic reception organized by the Official Representation of the PMR will be held in the capital. “By the decision of the President of Pridnestrovie Yevgeny Shevchuk, the citizens of South Ossetia, who have made a significant contribution to the development of our bilateral relations, today will participate in the official ceremony of conferring state awards of Pridnestrovie”, - said the diplomat.

The Minister also congratulated the people of South Ossetia on the occasion of the national holiday – the Day of the Recognition of the Republic’s Independence by the Russian Federation, which is celebrated in the country on August 26th. “Perhaps not less important than decades ago is to wish peace. Peace, which now is on your land, allows to create, calmly and safely build families, allows new generations to be born for the future of your country”, - said Nina Shtanski.

The Foreign Minister noted that relations between Pridnestrovie and South Ossetia are developing dynamically: interdepartmental agreements are signed, plans to launch and intensify the trade and economic cooperation are developed, the task to develop the plans was given by the leadership two years ago. “There are objective obstacles to that – Pridnestrovie is in even more intensified blockade, and, of course, it binds trading opportunities, but we are always in contact at the level of our specialized departments and representations. I am confident that unconventional creative solutions to make our relations stronger will be found,” - Nina Shtanski expressed the hope.

In his turn, Kazbulat Tskhovrebov noted that the South Ossetian delegation is honored with the opportunity to share the state holiday – the anniversary of the Republic – with Pridnestrovians. “Your country is developing steadily, developments are obvious. With the whole country we are very pleased with the successes that the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic has achieved in spite of the economic difficulties. We are confident that any difficulties are temporary in nature”, - he said.

The guest emphasized that people in South Ossetia are familiar with the concept of “economic blockade”. “The Republic for nearly 20 years has been in total isolation and blockade by Georgia and its allies, and we know what burdens are. But as history shows, these hardships only hardened our peoples. We are becoming more and more confident about the future, filled with force,”- said Kazbulat Tskhovrebov.

During the meeting the sides discussed a number of issues of mutual interest.
