On the Participation of the Delegation of the Pridnestrovien Moldavian Republic in the Working Meeting of the Eastern Committee of German Economy and Other Activities Held in Germany

On April 3-7, 2011, the group of top-managers of the Pridnestrovien enterprises made a business trip to Germany. This activity was organized by the PMR's Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the network of the project on business education implemented jointly with the United Nations Development Program organized and financed by the EU.

Pridnestrovien delegation was presented by the President of the PMR's Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vasiliy Kozhan, Deputy Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev, directors of such enterprises as JSC “Tiraspoltransgaz – Pridnestrovie”, JSC “Tirotex – Energo”, CJSC “Floare”, CJSC “Dniester – Auto”, CJSC “Tiraspol Plant of  the Breadstuffs” and other firms.

During the working visit to Germany, representatives of the Pridnestrovien enterprises participated in the biggest international industrial forum in Hannover – the 63th International exhibition of industrial technologies, equipment, services and innovation developments “Hannover Messe 2011”.

In the framework of the international industrial exhibition the Pridnestrovien manufacturers had an opportunity to get to know about the most interesting and perspective business projects and proposals and establish direct contacts with producers of technologies and equipment from 61 countries of the world.

A number of business meetings conducted in the capital of Germany was the next stage of the business visit. On April 6, Pridnestrovien top-managers met with the authorities of the Eastern Committee of German Economy (Ost-Ausschuss der Deutschen Wirtschaft) in Berlin.

This authoritative organization bears the determinative significance for the development of German business. The Committee was founded in 1952 as a collegiate body of German large entrepreneurial unions. The founders of the Committee are the Federal Union of German Industry (BDI), the Federal Union of German Banks (BDB), the Joint Union of German Insurers (GDV), Foreign Trade Association of the German Retail Trade (AVE), Central Union of German Handicraft (ZDH). The members of the Eastern Committee are leading enterprises of Germany which are interested in making business in Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, countries of Southeastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia.

During the meeting in the Eastern Committee the entrepreneurs held comprehensive and interested dialog with Regional Director on Eastern Europe Anya Kwiring and manager Edward Kinsbruner. During the conversation a wide range of topical issues was discussed and possibilities and perspectives of bilateral collaboration in business sphere were considered. In this connection, the President of the PMR's Chamber of Commerce and Industry noted the positive experience of practical collaboration of the Pridnestrovien enterprises with foreign investors and entrepreneurs, underlining the fact that Germany is on the 3rd place in the structure of the Pridnestrovien foreign trade turnover after the Russian Federation and Ukraine.

The participants of the meeting also discussed organization of the system of direct business contacts data exchange. PMR's entrepreneurs, in their turn, invited German colleagues to take part in annual Pridnestrovien investment forum.


Other events directed to the establishment and development of contacts between representatives of the business society took place in the German capital. On the margins of these events, PMR's Deputy Minister Vitaliy Ignatiev held a meeting with Markus Meckel, the German politician and expert, the last Foreign Minister of the GDR, member of the Science and Politics Foundation (SWP), member of the Board of Trustees of Friedrich Ebert Foundation (FES), member of the Board of Directors of  the European Partnership for Democracy Foundation (EPD).

In whole, these meetings were of dynamic and practical nature and were aimed at searching of concrete opportunities for the development of the Pridnestrovien business with attraction of foreign investments and business partners.
