PMR’s MFA hosted a meeting with the UN and the Swedish Embassy delegations

The Foreign Ministry hosted a meeting between Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Dmitry Palamarchuk and delegations of the UN and the Embassy of the Kingdom of Sweden in the Republic of Moldova. The meeting was attended by Deputy Head of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Sweden, Adam Amberg, UNDP Deputy Resident Representative in the Republic of Moldova Narine Sahakyan, as well as representatives of other UN agencies. From the Pridnestrovian side the event was attended by the Minister for Social Protection and Labor of the PMR Elena Kulichenko, First Deputy Minister of Justice of the PMR, Head of the State Penitentiary Service under the Ministry of Justice of the PMR Nikolai Zemtsov, as well as Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the PMR, Head of the Public Safety Militia Nikolai Pestov and chief physician of the SI “Centre for Prevention and Control of AIDS and Infectious Diseases” Tatiana Alekseenko.

During the meeting the guests presented new program of cooperation with Pridnestrovie, within it is planned to implement projects in three areas: creation of conditions for the protection and development of people with disabilities, response to HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis, assistance to women in crisis situations. The program is designed for two years and will be implemented by UN agencies with financial support from the Swedish Government, in close cooperation with the relevant ministries and departments of Pridnestrovie within implementation of the recommendations by UN Senior Expert on Human Rights Thomas Hammarberg. The presented work plan is based on the already existing positive experience of cooperation with the United Nations and takes into account the requirements and recommendations of the Pridnestrovian side.

During the meeting Dmitry Palamarchuk noted that the development of constructive and benefit-targeted relationships with international partners is one of the important activities of the state authorities of Pridnestrovie. “We acknowledge gratefully that the cooperation with the UN, the Embassy of the Kingdom of Sweden and the Swedish International Development Agency is effectively built, affect the most sensitive areas, focused on the needs of the people, as well as takes into account the wishes of the competent authorities of Pridnestrovie” – the diplomat said.

In turn, Narine Sahakyan also stated the positive cooperation of the United Nations organizations and Pridnestrovie. “We remember many constructive meetings and discussions, which resulted in new ideas born, and today we can talk about the positive results of these projects” – said Deputy UNDP Resident Representative.
